The gospel elements to some songs on Exile have been attributed I Just Want To See His Face - The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St. (Vinyl the presence of Billy Preston during the final recording sessions in Los Angeles. Preston would take Jagger to Sunday services. Initial recording took place in at Olympic Studioswith overdubs added in early at Sunset Sound Studios.

I Just Want To See His Face - The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St. (Vinyl Jagger on lead vocals and electric piano, Mick Taylor plays electric bass and Bill Plummer contributes upright bass.

Bobby Whitlock claims he played the electric piano on the track in a Facebook post dated July 14, Album), He describes the song development:. This was my part writing this song with Mick. He asked me to play something with a gospel feel as he sang along. Charlie jumped in and Mick Taylor started playing the bass. That's exactly how it went down.

Keith Richards was nowhere near the studio, even though he was credited as a writer and piano player on it. I am playing the electric piano on this song. The whole thing came from Mick asking me about my Dad being a preacher and if I could play a gospel feel.

This was the results. I cranked the vibrato on it and started playing, and Mick Taylor started playing the bass and Charlie started playing the drums and Mick Jagger was sing [ sic ] 'That's alright, that's alright, I don't want to talk about Jesus, I just want to see his face. Bobby Whitlock is playing the Wurlitzer on the I Just Want To See His Face - The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St. (Vinyl. Bobby was at the studio doing business with Jimmy Miller.

The guys were all there but Keith, who was out scoring dope as Bobby tells it. Mick asked about his dad being a preacher and asked Bobby to play something with a gospel feel. Bobby immediately started to play what you hear on the record. Mick began scatting. Bobby was unaware that they were recording. Keith showed up at the end of this jam, and Bobby left.

When the record came out, Bobby was in the office with Jimmy Miller thrilled to see it and hear it when he found out they never credited him. In a way though, Jagger's lack LP involvement may have been the key to Exile 's success and probably explains his oft-voiced dislike of the record. With Richards at the helm, the record sounds closest to the American roots music the band relentlessly name-dropped. Vocally, Richards' nasal whine fights for space with Jagger more than anywhere else in their history, adding thrillingly imperfect harmonies.

The rest of the supporting cast also gets more of the spotlight: the brilliant barrelhouse piano of Nicky Hopkins singlehandedly defines "Loving Cup" and "Torn and Frayed", Mick Taylor adds counterpoint leads and the toodling bassline of "Tumbling Dice", Al Perkins' pedal steel and Bobby Key's sax contributes soul and country cred. But despite his relative absence, Jagger's contributions on the back half of the record give Exile its dramatic arc.

Though the album's concept record status has always been somewhat oversold, the plot does chart a rough path from drunken late-night revelry to next-day regret: The last third of the record looks back on the first two-thirds with a wince and a headache.

As the last complete sentence of the album says, "you're going to be the death of me. Unlike the album proper, the bonus tracks are given a clean scrubbing, LP, and it's blatantly obvious in places that Jagger's vocals are circanot Still, many of the unreleased songs work: "Plundered My Soul", wins on the merits of its falsetto backing vocals, and "So Divine Aladdin Story " is like a pastiche of Aftermath -era Stones played by an older, saltier band.

All the same, it's a bit strange to see the Stones, somehow still alive, on the talk show circuit celebrating the product of their darkest years, treating their addictions, tax evasion, and near-breakup as just a colorful set piece on Rolling Stones: The Ride. The true thrill of Exile on Main St. Oh, what a beautiful buzz.

Legendary as it may be, Exile on Main St. presents a challenge for deluxe remastered reissues. Much of its myth lies in its murk, how its dense, scuzzy sound is the quintessential portrait of rock stars in decadent isolation, the legend bleeding into its creation so thoroughly it is impossible, and unnecessary, to separate one from the other. General CommentThese are the lyrics to the Stones' "I Got the Blues," which is a much more serious and sad song than the title would derbattmogegefilykornorolsoftcat.xyzinfo anyway, this track is a key part in what makes a record like Exile so cool. Sounds like it was recorded on some s equipment or something.
